Abstract

The implementation of medical waste management policies at the laboratory level still faces challenges in the form of non-compliance with operational standards, limited resources, and weak evaluative monitoring. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of medical waste management policies at the UPTD Puskesmas in Jambi City. This study uses a case study method, with a qualitative approach, where the sampling technique used is purposive sampling. Total number of informants in this study is 20 people. Data obtained from interviews, observations, and document analysis will be analyzed thematically to identify emerging patterns, themes, and issues related to medical waste management policies. As a result of data management, there are several regulations for medical waste management at the UPTD Puskesmas in Jambi City, starting from the Law on Environmental Protection and Management, Presidential Regulations, Ministerial Regulations, and SOPs for the Puskesmas themselves. Medical waste management is carried out through several stages, starting from sorting, internal transportation, temporary storage, to external transportation and processing involving third parties. There are challenges faced in medical waste management, including untrained human resources, budget constraints, and inconsistent external transportation schedules. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion regarding the effectiveness of medical waste management policies at the UPTD Labkesda Jambi City, it can be concluded that the Regulatory and Implementation Aspects of the UPTD Labkesda Jambi City already have a strong regulatory basis, both externally and internally and Cooperation Agreements with third parties. However, there is still a gap between written policies and implementation in the field, so that the effectiveness of the policy has not reached its optimal point. The Human Resources Aspect shows that the quality and quantity of human resources are the main determinants in waste management. The Infrastructure Aspect shows that the facilities are quite adequate, but more modern and sustainable waste management is needed.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a common reproductive health problem among adolescent girls and can interfere with daily activities and school participation. Dark chocolate contains magnesium and flavonoids that may promote uterine muscle relaxation and reduce menstrual pain. This study aimed to determine the effect of dark chocolate administration on menstrual pain among adolescent girls at SMAN 1 Tanjung Jabung Barat in 2026. A quasi-experimental two-group pretest-posttest design was used. The population comprised 510 female students, and 40 respondents were selected by stratified random sampling and allocated to an intervention group (n=20) and a control group (n=20). Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the independent-samples t-test. The mean menstrual pain score decreased from 6.95 before the intervention to 4.53 after the intervention. At posttest, the intervention group had a lower mean pain score than the control group (3.25 vs. 5.80), with p=0.000 (p<0.05). Dark chocolate administration significantly reduced menstrual pain and may be considered a practical non-pharmacological option for adolescent girls.

Abstract

The National Health Insurance Program (JKN) is a government strategy for achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), which aims to ensure equitable, high-quality, and affordable access to health services for the entire population. This study evaluated the implementation of the JKN Program in supporting UHC achievement in East Tanjung Jabung Regency. A qualitative descriptive design was used. Nine informants represented the Social Affairs Office, Population and Civil Registration Office, Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency, Regional Development Planning Agency, Health Office, BPJS Kesehatan, a Public Health Center, a hospital, and a JKN beneficiary. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, document review, and source triangulation. The input component was supported by regulations, financing, population data, and cross-sectoral roles, although budget limitations, data synchronization problems, limited human resources, and inadequate facilities remained. The implementation process included data verification, registration, interagency coordination, claims, referrals, and health services, but referral mechanisms and data integration were not yet optimal. JKN reduced the financial burden of health care; however, membership coverage was only 87.85% and active membership was 63%. Therefore, the UHC target had not yet been achieved
