Abstract

Arabic speaking skills are among the essential abilities that second-language learners must master. However, most students find it difficult to speak Arabic due to limited vocabulary and lack of speaking practice in class. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effectiveness of the modified Engklek game as a learning medium in improving students’ kalam ikhbari skills in Arabic learning. This study employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method. The research subjects were students from Classes VIII A and VIII B at Al-Fatih 1 Islamic Integrated Junior High School, each consisting of 32 students. Data were collected through oral tests using a pretest and posttest model. The game modification for speaking skills was carried out by incorporating Arabic learning elements into the game system, such as thematic vocabulary and sentence structure patterns. Furthermore, students’ roles were designed to be not only active participants but also direct language users in communicative and enjoyable situations. The results showed a significant improvement in the experimental group’s speaking ability, with an average pretest score of 33 and a posttest score of 65, while the control group experienced only a slight increase from 35 to 40. The improvement in the experimental group’s speaking skills fell into the moderate category, with a percentage increase of 47%. Thus, the use of the modified Engklek game proved effective in enhancing students’ speaking skills in Arabic learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the “TNK” (Think, Publish, Write) technique in improving students’ creative thinking skills in writing at MTs Negeri 2 Jakarta. Using a quantitative quasi-experimental design, the research involved two groups: an experimental group taught using the TNK technique and a control group taught using conventional methods. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test assessments, focusing on four dimensions of creative thinking in writing: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The findings revealed that the experimental group achieved a post-test mean score of 79, significantly higher than the control group’s mean score of 54. The independent sample t-test result (t = 7.621) exceeded the critical values at both 5% and 1% significance levels, indicating a significant effect of the TNK technique. The N-Gain score of 0.52 suggested a moderate level of effectiveness. These results indicate that the TNK technique offers a structured yet creative learning environment, enabling students to express ideas more freely, enhance critical thinking, and develop better writing skills. The study recommends adopting the TNK technique as an alternative instructional strategy for teaching writing.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to develop Google Forms-based student worksheets for learning mufrodat and tarkib at State Islamic Junior High School 3 Cilegon, describe the procedures for their implementation in the learning process, develop worksheets based on Google Forms, and assess their effectiveness. This study used the R&D (Research and Development) method with the ADDIE development model and a mixed-methods approach. Research findings show that Google Forms-based worksheets are effective as a medium for independent practice after classroom learning. The use of this medium can overcome the limitations of conventional worksheets, which are monotonous and inflexible, especially in schools that restrict the use of electronic devices in the classroom. Google Forms-based worksheets provide students with the opportunity to practice mufrodat and tarkib independently outside of class because they are easily accessible and make it easier for teachers to assign and assess exercises. Student learning outcomes show improvement after using worksheets. Thus, Google Forms-based worksheets can be a relevant and effective alternative medium for independent practice in mufrodat and tarkib learning.
