Abstract

Background: Stroke is a disease that occurs because blood flow to certain locations in the brain is disrupted. One of the main problems that occur in stroke sufferers is the disruption in the ability to walk, which will cause a decrease in the walking speed of post-stroke patients. One of the treatments used to increase the walking speed of post-stroke patients is to provide an ankle foot orthosis. Abstract

Background: Children with cerebral palsy generally experience hand functional disorders which then affect the child's occupational performance. Hand functional ability is the ability to use the hand in doing activities. To be able to perform occupational performance, good hand functional abilities are needed. To achieve this, interventions are needed, one of which is constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) which is hypothesized to be able to improve hand functional ability and occupational per-formance. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of CIMT on the hands functional ability and the occupation performance of children with cerebral palsy.Subjects and Method: This study used a systematic review design and meta-analysis using the PRISMA flow chart guidelines. The process of searching for articles was carried out between 2005-2020 using databases from PubMed, Science Direct, AJOT, Springer Link, and Google Scholar. Based on the database, there were 20 articles that met the inclusion criteria. This study involved 669 subjects of hand functional ability and 440 subjects of occupational performance. The analysis was performed using the RevMan 5.3 software. Results: A total of 20 articles conducted a meta-analysis review. A total of 18 articles conducted a meta-analysis showing that giving CIMT to children with cerebral palsy was significantly able to improve hands functional ability of children with cerebral palsy (SMD = 0.40; 95% CI 0.09 to 0.71; p = 0.01). A total of 11 articles conducted a meta-analysis showing that giving CIMT to children with cerebral palsy was able to improve occupational performance abilities but it was not statistically significant (SMD = 0.18; 95% CI 0.17 to 0.52; p = 0.32).Conclusion: CIMT can improve hand functional abilities and occupational performance of children with cerebral palsy.

Abstract

Background: COVID-19 is a disease caused by a new coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. In more severe cases, COVID-19 can cause death. The most severe COVID-19 patient mortality is associated with underlying health conditions. The most common associated comorbidities are pulmonary disease, diabetes, obesity, and old age. However, the effects of obesity and T2DM disease on the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic are controversial. This study aims to analyze the magnitude of the influence of obesity and T2DM on COVID-19 mortality.Subjects and Method: This study uses a systematic review and meta-analysis research design. The time of the selected test results is between January 2020 to January 2021. The search for articles is carried out for 1 month. Research data was searched from databases: PubMed, Google Scholar, JAMA, Willey, and Science Direct. Using search keywords: (Type 2 diabetes mellitus OR diabetic) AND (mortality OR death) AND (COVID-19 /OR Coronavirus OR SARS-CoV-2) AND ("adjusted odds ratio" OR "aOR"), (obesity OR obese) AND (mortality OR death) AND (COVID-19 OR Coronavirus OR SARS-CoV-2) AND ("adjusted odds ratio" OR "aOR"). The inclusion criteria in this study were full-text articles in English, observational study designs were collected using PRISMA, and analyzed using the Review Manager application (RevMan 5.3).Results: A total of 15 articles were reviewed in this study. A meta-analysis of 10 cohort studies showed that people with COVID19 who had comorbid obesity were 1.50 times more likely to die from COVID-19 compared to those without obesity (aOR = 1.50; 95% CI = 1.17 to 1.93; p = 0.001). A meta-analysis of 6 cohort studies showed people with COVID-1919 who had comorbid T2DM 1.93 times to die from COVID-19 compared with those without T2DM (aOR = 1.93; 95% CI = 1.28 to 2.90; p = 0.002).Conclusion: Obesity and T2DM are predictors of COVID19 mortality.

Abstract

Background: COVID-19 is an infectious disease that spread throughout the world in December 2019. The risk factors for mortality of COVID-19 patients depend on comorbid diseases. Most of the comorbid diseases associated with COVID-19 deaths consist of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic kidney disease, and asthma. This study aims to analyze the effect of comorbid asthma on mortality in COVID-19 patients.Subjects and Method: This research is a meta-analysis study using PRISMA flowchart guidelines. The article search process was carried out between 2020-2021 using databases from PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus. Based on the database, there were 15 articles that met the inclusion criteria. The analysis was carried out using the RevMan 5.3 software.Results: The 15 articles reviewed in the meta-analysis showed that comorbid asthma increased the mortality risk of COVID-19 patients and was statistically significant (aOR = 1.18; 95% CI = 1.02 to 1.36; p = 0.030).Conclusion: Asthma comorbidities increase the mortality of COVID-19 patients.Keywords: Asthma, mortality, COVID-19, SARS-CoV 2Correspondence:

Abstract

Background: COVID-19 has become a pandemic in all countries including Indonesia. The death rate from COVID-19 is concentrated in elderly patients and those with comorbidities. COPD is one of the comorbidities that can worsen and even cause death. COPD ranks in the top 3 leading causes of death in the world causing 2.3 million deaths in 2019. This study aims to analyze the effect of COPD comorbidities on mortality and severity of COVID-19 patients.Subjects and Method: This study used a systematic review and meta-analysis by following the PRISMA flow chart. Search articles through journal databases, namely: Google scholar, PubMed, Science Direct and Link Springer. The articles search was done by considering the eligibility criteria defined in the PICO model. P= COVID-19 patient; I= COPD participant; C= without COPD; O= need for mechanical ventilation, ICU admission, and death. Inclusion criteria were cohort full paper articles, in English, multivariate analysis with adjusted Odds Ratio. Articles analyzed with RevMan 5.3.Results: The 13 cohort study designs reviewed with a meta-analysis to estimate the risk of death showed that comorbid COPD increased the risk of death (aOR= 1.33; 95% CI= 1.08 to 1.64; p= 0.007). 9 cohort study designs were reviewed with a meta-analysis to estimate the risk of severity with indicators of mechanical ventilation need (aOR= 1.38; 95% CI= 1.05 to 1.82; p= 0.020). 7 cohort study designs were reviewed by meta-analysis to estimate the risk of severity with indicators of risk of ICU admission (aOR= 1.25; 95% CI= 1.04 to 1.50; p= 0.020).Conclusion: COPD comorbidities increase the risk of need for mechanical ventilation, ICU admission and death among COVID-19 patients.Keywords: COVID-19, COPD, death, severityCorrespondence:

Abstract

Background: Night shift work has an impact on the health of factory workers. One of the impacts of night shift work is the risk of hypertension and disturbed sleep patterns. The purpose of this study was to determine how big the effect of night shift work on hypertension and sleep patterns in factory workers.Subjects and Method: This was a meta-analysis and systematic study with the population: factory workers. Intervention: night shift work. Comparation: morning and afternoon shift work. Outcome: hypertension and sleep patterns. The article search process was carried out according to the PRISM Flow Diagram and searched through several indexes such as PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Schoolar, and Springer Link with the search keywords “Night Shift” AND “Hypertension” AND “Sleep” AND “Worker”. The articles used are articles from 2013-2022 and are written in English.Results: A total of 11 articles originating from the Asian continent (China, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, and Japan) were considered suitable for meta-analysis. From the results of data analysis that has been carried out, it is known that factory workers who work night shifts have a risk of experiencing hypertension (aOR= 3.43; 95% CI= 2.48 to 4.72; p<0.001), and disturbed sleep patterns (aOR= 3.63; 95% CI= 2.66 to 4.95; p<0.001) compared with morning and afternoon shift workers and the results were statistically significant.Conclusion: Night shifts can increase the risk of hypertension and sleep disturbances in factory workers. Abstract

Background: Human interaction requires com­munication as a transmission of informa­tion, ideas, emotions, skills, and so on. Com­mu­nica­tion occurs when a source conveys a message to the recipient with a conscious in­ten­tion to influ­ence the recipient's behavior. One of the pro­blems in social communication is bully­ing. Bully­ing or harassment can be through words or through actions that aim to make the opponent's mental fall and pressure. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence bullying against depres­sion with the Health Belief Model and Social Cognitive Theory.Subjects and Method: This was a cross-sectio­nal study conducted in junior high schools in Surakarta, in December 2019. A total sample of 250 adolescents was selected by simple random sampling. The dependent variable was bullying. The inde­pen­dent variables were perceived sus­ceptibility, perceived severity, cues to action, perceived threat, perceived benefit, perceived barrier, self-efficacy, depres­sion, academic activi­ties, and communication. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by a multiple multilevel logistic regres­sion run on Stata 13.Results: Bullying increased depression (b= 3.69; 95% CI= 1.51 to 9.00; p= 0.004) and poor communication (b= 4.95; 95% CI= 2.24 to 10.89; p <0.001). Bullying decreased academic achievement (b= - 5.68; 95% CI= -12.33 to -2.62; p<0.001). School had strong contextual effect on depression with ICC= ICC= 20.91%.Conclusion: Bullying increases depression and poor communication. Bullying decreases academic achievement.
