Abstract

The project-based learning model is one of the strategies used to increase student engagement and motivation, especially in supporting the development of character education. However, in its application, project learning faces challenges such as taking a long time, causing students to feel bored, and not all students are fully and evenly active in the learning process. This has an impact on the non-achievement of learning objectives in the development of character education. This study aims to identify the factors needed to improve the quality of project learning implementation for character education development. The strategy analysis used in the study uses external as well as internal factors analysis with SWOT and AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process). The method used in this study is a mixed method with an exploratory sequential design, which collects data qualitatively, namely through interviews and observations, which are then followed by quantitative analysis by distributing questionnaires to respondents. The results show that internal factors, namely innovative and digitalized school management, are the main strengths in implementing project learning for character education development. On the other hand, external factors show significant opportunities for driving schools to support this learning while considering external threats. The top priority strategy recommended in character education development is to utilize technology for innovative learning that increases student engagement. This strategy aims to provide space for students to make progress in cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects. The main focus in project learning is to ensure students are actively engaged, so an innovative, technology-based approach is needed that allows students to explore, think critically and develop themselves.

Abstract

Clock skew is the deviation of the clock from the true time, which makes it an important role in time information. Clock skew is unavoidable and causes each clock to run at a different speed, so there is a very slight difference between them, but it can still be observed properly. The known properties of clock skew make it potential research for many experts, such as Paxson, Aoki, and Huang. To produce a more accurate clock skew measurement, this study uses the ant colony optimization method by adopting the behavior of an ant colony in searching for food by choosing the path with the shortest route, which will become the cluster offset as a material for measuring clock skew. Ant colony optimization method has the most potential to be adapted in clock skew measurement because the cluster offset is not affected by the upper and the bottom outliers to produce an accurate clock skew measurement.

Abstract

Clock skew, defined as the difference in clock rates between digital devices, serves as a unique and stable fingerprint for device identification and authentication, particularly in distributed network environments. Traditional clock skew estimation techniques, such as linear regression, are effective under stable conditions but often fail in the presence of data disturbances, such as latency, jitter, and asymmetric delays, which introduce outliers. This study explores the application of robust regression methods to enhance the accuracy and stability of clock skew estimation under such conditions. Three robust techniques are comparatively analyzed: Least Median of Squares (LMedS), Random Sample Consensus (RANSAC), and S-Estimators. LMedS offers high resistance to outliers by minimizing the median of squared residuals, though it is computationally demanding for large datasets. RANSAC achieves a practical balance between robustness and efficiency through iterative model fitting and inlier maximization, while S-Estimators provide strong statistical resistance to both outliers and high-leverage points, albeit with increased implementation complexity. The comparative evaluation considers key parameters such as estimation accuracy, computational cost, and robustness to anomalies. Results indicate that RANSAC is generally preferred for clock skew measurement in distributed systems due to its efficient performance and explicit outlier detection capabilities. However, LMedS and S-Estimators remain valuable in scenarios with more complex anomaly structures or higher noise levels. This study contributes to the selection of appropriate robust regression methods for reliable clock skew estimation in dynamic and error-prone network environments.

Abstract

Abstract

E-learning in education faces challenges in improving students' engagement, specifically regarding character education effectiveness. Gamification is among the strategies that can be applied to increase student engagement in the project-based learning process. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a Gamification Framework for Project-Based E-learning in Character Education (GaPolCE) as an innovative solution to improve engagement and character education at the senior high school level. A quantitative study was carried out using a quasi-experimental method, where data collection was carried out through a pre-post test and log data analysis to measure the effectiveness of gamification in achieving character education and student engagement. The results showed that the implementation of GaPolCE improved aspects of character education measured using the N-Gain score, where moral knowledge was in the high category (0.70) while moral feeling (0.49) and moral action (0.51) were in the moderate category. Student engagement increased significantly by 67%, 8%, and 25% for behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement. However, the effectiveness of in-depth character formation requires long-term evaluation. In addition, the assessment of the application of gamification in project learning for character education is still done manually, thus increasing teachers' workload. In this regard, further research is needed with a longitudinal approach to ensure the sustainability of its influence. In addition, it is necessary to develop an automatic assessment system based on artificial intelligence to increase the efficiency of character education evaluation.
