Abstract

This research examined the effectiveness of Pear Deck and Pocable Game in improving students' vocabulary knowledge at SMPN 10 Tarakan. This research used a quasi-experimental method with a quantitative approach and collected test score data from two classes, namely classes VII-I (control) and VII-II (experimental), each consisting of 29 students. Results showed that Pear Deck and Pocable Game significantly improved vocabulary knowledge compared to PowerPoint. The experimental class experienced a more significant increase in mean score, from 69.03 to 86.2 before treatment to 81.62 afterwards. In the control class, the average score increased from 67.31 to 78.12. These findings demonstrate the significant potential of Pear Deck and Pocable Game as learning media that can encourage students to participate interactively during learning, which improves their understanding of pronunciation, meaning, and vocabulary usage. Networked technology and continuous teacher development are needed to create fun and memorable English language learning.

Abstract

Lumbosacral lateral projection radiography, particularly of the fifth lumbar vertebra (L5) and Sacrum, often experiences a decrease in contrast due to exposure factors and object thickness. This study aims to analyze the variation in the Virtual Grid ratio of 8:1, 10:1, and 12:1 in lateral projection sacrum examinations using the Pixel Value indicator. This descriptive quantitative study was conducted in May–June 2025 at the Radiography and Physics Laboratory, Department of Radiodiagnostic and Radiotherapy Technology, Jakarta II Polytechnic. The sample consisted of lateral sacrum images with three grid ratio variations. Analysis was performed on the average Pixel Value, followed by statistical testing using SPSS 27 with the One-Way ANOVA method. The results showed the average Pixel Value: 8:1 ratio at 150.94; 10:1 ratio at 150.46; and 12:1 ratio at 152.75 with P>0.05, indicating no significant difference between the grid ratio variations.

Abstract

Awareness and perception have become a public health and environmental problem for at least the last two decades, so public awareness and understanding of knowledge about natural radiation and radiation protection efforts are needed. The method by providing understanding is carried out by counseling using posters and interactive lectures, accompanied by the provision of pre-post test questionnaires to measure residents' understanding of radiation and the protection efforts that can be done. Then the data obtained will be tested using SPSS 26 to find out whether there is a change in understanding after providing counseling to residents with the Wilcoxon test. The results after the community knowledge counseling increased by 92% for indicators of understanding, utilization, and effects of radiation, while 97% for indicators of radiation protection with antioxidants. From the results of the Wilcoxon test, the p value < 0.001 therefore it can be said that counseling activities about radiation and protection efforts can affect the level of understanding of the residents.

Abstract

Pigeon Pea (Casanus Cajan L.) is one of the local foods in South Sulawesi. Pigeon pea seeds contain protein that the body can absorb. This study aims to determine the optimum operating conditions for extracting pigeon pea on protein and yield using Ultrasonic-Assisted Extraction (UAE). Response Surface Methodology (RSM) with Box-Behnken Design (BBD) was used by considering three variables, time (30, 40, and 50 min), temperature (40, 50, and 60oC), and methanol concentration (50, 70, and 90%). The experiment results show that yield ranges from 8.85663% to 31.4766% and 46.1538 mg/l to 15584.6 mg/l. Response variables were computed and used to create the contour plot graphs. The optimum operating conditions for sonication extraction were a time of 44.760 minutes, a temperature of 60oC, and a 90% methanol concentration.
