Abstract

This study investigates the role of digital education in promoting social sustainability, cultural preservation, and equitable access to knowledge in the context of primary education. The research focuses on an Islamic primary school in East Java, Indonesia, which actively implements digital transformation through adaptive learning technologies, collaborative platforms, and digital humanities integration. The study aims to understand how these digital tools align with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in fostering inclusion and environmental responsibility. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, and direct classroom observations involving 16 participants, including school leaders, teachers, parents, and program facilitators. The findings reveal that the integration of post digital aesthetics and sustainability initiatives supports inclusive and ethical educational practices, while also challenging deterministic views of technology. The study emphasizes that digital transformation in education must be culturally contextualized and ethically guided to ensure long-term impact. Future research is recommended to explore scalable models across diverse educational settings.

Abstract

This study examines jancok, a profane expression commonly employed in Surabaya, as a form of vernacular performative aesthetics embedded in everyday urban interaction. Moving beyond linguistic and semantic frameworks, the article adopts an arts-based performance approach to analyze how meaning is constituted through embodied vocal enactment, including intonation, rhythm, vocal intensity, gesture, and interactional framing. Grounded in performance studies, verbal art theory, and everyday aesthetic scholarship, jancok is conceptualized as an aesthetic event rather than a linguistic unit. The analysis draws on qualitative ethnographic fieldwork conducted across multiple interactional contexts, including informal social spaces, workplaces, street encounters, creative environments, and digital platforms. The findings indicate that jancok operates through three interrelated performative dimensions: emotional aestheticization, identity enactment, and symbolic resistance. Through stylized vocal and bodily performance, the utterance transforms affect into socially legible expression, enacts Arek identity as a situated cultural practice, and negotiates norms of politeness and hierarchy through aestheticized transgression. Its expressive efficacy is sustained by performative ambiguity, allowing the utterance to oscillate between intimacy and tension.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Debates on gender, technology, and feminism have advanced with the emergence of xenofeminism, which critiques the convergence of patriarchal structures and technological capitalism, especially within workplaces shaped by artificial intelligence (AI) and automation. This study examines how xenofeminism, as articulated by Hester and the Laboria Cuboniks collective, offers a framework to address gender inequalities intensified by technological developments. Employing a systematic review guided by PRISMA protocols, we analyzed scholarly literature indexed in Scopus using thematic analysis to explore intersections among gender, technology, and labor. The findings indicate persistent gender bias in AI systems, evidenced by women’s underrepresentation in AI leadership, wage disparities, and algorithmic discrimination. Societal stereotypes and educational barriers further constrain women’s participation in AI-related fields. The analysis underscores xenofeminism’s potential to unsettle gender binaries and mobilize technology to contest entrenched norms, while advocating systemic reforms to enhance inclusivity and justice. We conclude that equitable AI requires greater gender diversity in development teams, gender-sensitive design practices, and comprehensive structural changes in education and workplace policies, positioning xenofeminism as a critical framework for transformative social change
