Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the process of implementing Civic Education in shaping political literacy and participation among young people at the research site, as well as identifying the factors underlying its optimal success, given that these outcomes differ from the general tendency of low youth political literacy and participation widely reported in various studies. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design, using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation study, analyzed through an interactive analysis model and strengthened by source and technique triangulation. The results show that contextual and participatory civic education learning is able to build mature political understanding alongside genuine youth involvement in democratic life. This success is supported by three main factors: the quality of learning interaction that opens space for critical dialogue, consistent involvement in real civic activities, and a social environment that supports openness in expressing opinions. These findings confirm that the success of civic education depends on the design of the learning process itself, rather than merely the existence of a curriculum, while also contributing to the achievement of the SDGs through the strengthening of education quality and youth democratic participation.

Abstract

Natuna Regency possesses one of Indonesia's most extraordinary marine resource endowments, yet its fishing communities remain structurally underserved by Islamic economic institutions despite holding deep Islamic cultural values. This study examines the role of Islamic economics in Natuna's fisheries and marine sector and constructs a strategic optimization framework grounded in maqashid al-syariah principles. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with fishermen, local government officials, and Islamic economic practitioners, supplemented by observation and policy documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. Findings reveal that Islamic economics operates at the level of informal cultural practice rather than formal institutional architecture, with profit-sharing arrangements and mutual assistance mechanisms present organically but unsupported by syariah-based financial institutions, productive zakat programs, or waqf-based infrastructure financing. The study constructs a four-pillar strategic framework encompassing maritime Islamic microfinance, productive waqf for fisheries infrastructure, sectoral zakat transformation, and ecological stewardship governance. This framework directly advances SDG 1, SDG 8, and SDG 14 by addressing financial exclusion, generating decent economic opportunities, and preserving the long-term ecological productivity of WPP 711. The study contributes the first systematic Islamic economics analysis specific to Natuna, offering a replicable model for Islamic maritime development in resource-rich coastal regions

Abstract

The anchovy (ikan bilis) production industry in Sedanau, Bunguran Barat District, Natuna Regency, represents a significant livelihood source for the local coastal community, yet its production practices have never been evaluated against the normative standards of Islamic economics. This study aims to examine the anchovy production process in its full operational detail and to assess that process from the perspective of Islamic economics, particularly regarding the principles of halal, tayyib, business honesty, food safety, and social responsibility. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman & Saldaña. The study finds that the production process operates through four stages, harvesting, boiling, drying, and marketing, with considerable economic efficiency. However, three critical normative deviations are identified: the use of deteriorating raw material in violation of the tayyib and shiddiq principles, the repeated reuse of boiling water that compromises food safety, and the disruptive placement of drying mats in public spaces that inflicts harm on the surrounding community. These findings carry direct implications for SDG 2, SDG 3, SDG 8, and SDG 10, underscoring the urgent need for Islamic economic literacy and production guidance in informal coastal food enterprises.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of Pegadaian Ultra Micro (UMi) Financing to micro-enterprise development in Sedanau Village from the perspective of Islamic Economics. This research employs a qualitative approach with a field research design. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving one Pegadaian Unit Sedanau employee and four micro-enterprise customers, selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis followed the interactive model of condensation, display, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through source and technique triangulation. Findings show that UMi Financing contributed to micro-enterprise development across five dimensions: strengthening working capital, sustaining operational continuity, expanding product variety, maintaining business survival, and supporting household welfare. However, its contribution remains suboptimal due to the mixing of business and household finances, unstable income, and weak financial record-keeping. Assessed through Islamic Economics, the financing partially reflects the principles of justice, amanah, transparency, ta'awun, and maslahah, but requires institutional reinforcement through business mentoring and Islamic financial literacy development. Addressing these gaps will strengthen the financing program's alignment with SDG 1, SDG 8, and SDG 10 by reducing financial vulnerability, fostering productive economic activity, and narrowing structural inequality in access to finance among island-based micro-enterprise communities.
