Abstract

Advertising signs as one of the street furniture has its own characteristic and potential about the visual quality in an urban areas. Along with the growth of the information media in urban areas, the quantity of advertising signs especially commercial advertising may cause an impact to the arrangement of advertisement condition. Andi Pangeran Pettarani street as one of the main street in Makassar City being an objective place for advertisements, either commercial and social advertising. Along this street, we can find some advertisement with many kinds of type and shapes. The aim of this research is to arrange the advertising signs at corridor based on the placement of advertising which can be found along the street. Based on the research, we can find the characteristic and an impact of the advertisement arrangement which caused by any deviation. By this analysis result, we can formed criteria of advertising arrangement and realize it to the corridor based on its land use.

Abstract

The growth of cities is in line with the development of transportation technology. Land use change, especially residential area tend to follow the availability of the transport network. Transportation and land use are closely related and have specific purpose in planning. The purpose of transportation system planning is to provide facilities for the movement of passengers and goods from one place to another. While the purpose of land use planning is to achieve the function of the buildings. Mamminasata region, the one of metropolitan cities in Indonesia, including Makassar City, Sungguminasa City, Maros Regency and Takalar Regency, should have an integrated planning for transportation sector. Development of Mamminasata region led to the new activity centers and new settlements such as the new Hertasning road. New Hertasning Street is the corridor that connect Makassar City and Sungguminasa City (Gowa Regency) in the southeast of the Mamminasata Region. The development of the new road changed agriculture uses to residential uses. This study examines the effect of development of new road toward land use changes. Land use changes using three variables: changes in land use, land use intensity and land price. This study used data inventory, comparative and mapping overlay analysis. The result of this analysis indicates the development of new road caused land use change along the corridor.

Abstract

The uncontrolled of growth and development of street vendors in town decreases environment quality and physical appereance of urban perform. The old city district of Makassar is the tourism district which the most popular district visited by the tourists. It is proved by the existence of Fort Rotterdam as the historical tourism building and Losari Beach Bridge as the icon of Makassar City. The street vendors notice that the district is a potential to looking for some advantages. That is the reason why the street vendor tooke place in The Old City District of Makassar. The literature reviews notice the characteristic of street vendors, the spreading pattern of street vendor and the visitor‟s perception in three research sub-districts (Bulogading, Maloku, and Losari Sub[1]district). The spatial analysis describes the spreading pattern of street vendor which was observed by the kind of commerce, the location of commerce and the service time. Meanwhile, the qualitative description analysis and the quantitative analysis are used to describe the existing condition of street vendor, to identificate the character of street vendors and to identificate the visitor‟s perception. The samples were collected randomly (proportional stratified random sampling).The analysis result reveals about the lively visiting level is the main factor which causing the appeareance of street vendors in the old city district of Makassar. The street vendors which have cluster spreading pattern (focus aglomeration) are kid‟s toys store and haberdasherry. Furthermore, the street vendors that have stretch spreading pattern (linier) are mixture type, individual service and printed matter. Meanwhile, the half amount of the street vendors like food and beverage merchant have stretch spreading and the rest has cluster spreading pattern. The indicators such as cheap, delicious and the quality of food become the main reason for people to visit the street vendors. The effective arrangements of the street vendors are providing street vendors pocket, providing park facility and controlling security. Those will be able to minimize the problems that could occure in the future. However, the old city district of Makassar is not only as trading facility support but also as tourism facility support.
