Abstract

Early childhood often experiences various forms of physical, verbal, mental, and sexual violence that can interfere with their development. Data from the Malang Regency Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service in 2023 recorded that the number of victims of sexual violence against children increased twofold due to children's lack of understanding of sex education. This study aims to develop the Answer and Jump game as an educational media to prevent sexual harassment in children aged 4-5 years. The method used is Research & Development research with 10 steps of development procedures, (1) Potential and Problems, (2) Data Collection, (3) Product Design, (4) Design Validation, (5) Design Revision, (6) Product Trial, (7) Product Revision, (8) Usage Trial, (9) Product Revision, (10) Mass Production. Of the 10 steps, the researcher carried out up to step 7 with a sample of 18 children aged 4-5 years at the Mutiara Bunda PAUD Post, Malang City. The research instrument used a product assessment questionnaire. The results of the study showed that the developed media was categorized as very feasible, with assessments from material experts (92%), media experts (98%), and user responses (87%). Thus, the Answer and Jump game is feasible to use, but further testing is needed on wider and more diverse groups.

Abstract

Background: Illness is a state in which the body physically, mentally, and socially experiences weakness, disability, and discomfort. Newborn babies are more susceptible to disease because the antibodies in their bodies are not yet fully formed. Breast milk is the first intake to help the formation of the immune system because breast milk contains antibodies and other protective substances. Purpose: To determine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of illness in infants aged 6-12 months at Kendalsari Health Center, Malang City. Methods: This study used a case control design with a retrospective approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The sample in this study consisted of a case group (sick babies) as many as 35 mothers & babies in the Kendalsari Community Health Center MTBS Clinic and a control group (healthy babies) as many as 35 mothers & babies in Jatimulyo Village in March-April 2024. Results: The results of the Chi-square test value of exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of illness obtained a significant p-value of 0.001 (<0.05). Conclusion: Exclusive breastfeeding has a significant effect on the incidence of illness in infants aged 6-12 months. Thus, it is expected that mothers can provide exclusive breastfeeding for infants aged 0-6 months. Future research can examine other factors (maternal condition, maternal psychology, and environment) that can affect exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of illness.

Abstract

Menopausal events are associated with decreased production of reproductive hormones, namely progesterone and estrogen. Both hormones in synthetic form are also present in some types of hormonal contraceptive methods. This study aims to determine the relationship between the history of the type of method and the length of use of contraceptives with the intensity of menopausal complaints. The design used is correlational analytics with a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 174 premenopausal women was selected by proportional random sampling. Information on the type and duration of contraceptive use was taken through interviews, and the intensity of premenopausal complaints was measured using the MRS (Menopause Rating Scale) questionnaire. Data analysis using regression methods was performed with STATA Statistics version 12.0, with statistical significance set at P < 0.05. Data analysis showed the associations between contraceptive types and pre-menopausal complaints (p-value 0.025) and between the length of contraceptive use and pre-menopausal complaints (p-value 0.021). The study recommends that contraceptive users consider the type and length of their methods, and healthcare providers should offer detailed counseling on how contraceptive choices might affect pre-menopausal symptoms. Future research should continue exploring the connection between contraceptive use and pre-menopausal complaints for more tailored guidance in the choice of contraceptive methods.
