Abstract

This study aimed to determine the interaction effect between chicken manure bokashi fertilizer and different trellis heights on the growth and yield of yardlong bean. The research was conducted from May to July 2025 at the agricultural field of Madako University, located in Tambun Subdistrict, Baolan District, Tolitoli Regency. A factorial randomized block design (RBD) was used with two factors. The first factor was the application of chicken manure bokashi with three levels: P0 (no fertilizer/control), P1 (100 g/plant), and P2 (166 g/plant). The second factor was trellis height with three levels: K1 (1.5 meters), K2 (2 meters), and K3 (2.5 meters). There were 9 treatment combinations, each repeated 3 times, resulting in 27 experimental plots, each measuring 100 cm × 200 cm. Each plot contained 12 plants, totaling 324 plants, with a spacing of 30 cm × 50 cm. Five sample plants were taken per plot, making a total of 135 sample plants.  The results showed that the growth and yield response of yardlong bean (Vigna sinensis L.) was significantly and highly significantly affected by the interaction between chicken manure bokashi and trellis height. The best treatment was P2K2 (166 g/plant of chicken manure bokashi and 2-meter trellis height), which resulted in the best average values in the following generative parameters: days to flowering (36.47 DAP), number of pods (7.11 pods), pod weight (30.47 g), and pod length (64.11 cm).

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the interaction and the individual effects of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) derived from Gliricidia sepium (gamal) leaves and urea fertilizer on the growth and yield of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt). The research was conducted from April to June 2025 at the experimental field of Madako Tolitoli University, Tambun Village, Baolan District, Tolitoli Regency. The experiment used a factorial Randomized Block Design with two factors. The first factor was the dosage of gamal leaf LOF consisting of three levels: M0 (without LOF), M1 (200 ml LOF + 800 ml water), and M2 (500 ml LOF + 500 ml water), applied at 100 ml per plant. The second factor was the urea fertilizer dosage: K0 (without urea), K1 (150 kg ha⁻¹ or 3 g per plant), and K2 (300 kg ha⁻¹ or 6 g per plant). There were nine treatment combinations, each replicated three times, resulting in 27 experimental plots measuring 100 cm × 200 cm. Each plot contained 10 plants with a spacing of 40 cm × 50 cm, and five plants per plot were used as samples, giving a total of 135 sample plants. The results indicated that the interaction between LOF and urea significantly affected plant height at 15, 22, 36, and 43 days after planting, as well as leaf number and ear length. Meanwhile, single-factor effects were observed on husked ear weight, ear diameter, number of kernels per row, and dehusked ear weight. The best performance was obtained from the combination of M2K2, namely 500 ml gamal leaf LOF diluted with 500 ml water and 300 kg ha⁻¹ urea, which effectively enhanced both vegetative growth and yield components of sweet corn.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the number of seeds per planting hole and the dose of magau organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of Inpari 32 rice variety. The study was conducted in Ginunggung Village, Tolitoli Regency, Central Sulawesi, from December 2023 to May 2024 using a 2×3 factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 27 experimental units. The results showed a significant interaction between the number of seeds and organic fertilizer on plant height at 15 days after planting and wet grain weight, with the best combination at 7 seeds per planting hole and a fertilizer dose of 2 kg (20 tons/ha). The number of seeds significantly affected plant height, number of tillers, number of panicles, and wet grain weight, while magau organic fertilizer significantly affected plant height, number of tillers, and dry grain weight. Several other parameters, such as panicle length, number of filled and empty grains, grain weight per plot, and 1,000-grain weight, did not show a significant effect.

Abstract

Seedless watermelon (Citrullus lanatus Thunb.) is a horticultural commodity whose growth and fruit development require appropriate management. This study evaluated the effects of natural plant growth regulators derived from bean sprout extract, aloe vera, and young coconut water on the growth and yield of seedless watermelon. The experiment was conducted from March to July 2025 in Lantapan Village, Galang District, Tolitoli Regency, Indonesia. A one-factor Randomized Complete Block Design was used, consisting of four treatments: K0 (no growth regulator), K1 (bean sprout extract), K2 (aloe vera extract), and K3 (young coconut water), with four replications. Each plot measured 2 × 1 m and contained four plants, of which three were sampled. The observed parameters were plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, flowering time, fruit circumference, and fruit weight. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by the Honestly Significant Difference test at the 5% level. Natural growth regulator treatments affected several growth and yield parameters. At 35 days after planting, K3 produced the highest plant height (111.50 cm), the largest number of leaves (38.50), and the greatest stem diameter (11.67 mm). K2 produced the earliest flowering time at 26.75 days after planting, while K3 produced comparatively high fruit circumference and fruit weight across the three harvests. These findings indicate that young coconut water may serve as a natural growth-regulator alternative to support the growth and yield of seedless watermelon under the conditions of this study.
