Abstract

This study was motivated by the socio-cultural challenges surrounding SMP Negeri 1 Secang, which is located near a traditional market and a bus terminal. These environmental conditions significantly influence the decline of students’ moral values and religious character. Although the area is surrounded by Islamic boarding schools, a gap remains between the presence of religious institutions and the daily behavior of students, which is often shaped by the street culture prevailing in the surrounding environment. This study aims to analyze the synergy between Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers and school culture in strengthening values education through religious habituation programs. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed through the processes of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the synergy is established collaboratively, with PAI teachers acting as the primary drivers and designers of value-based content, while the school provides supportive policies and an organizational culture that facilitates the implementation of such values. The strengthening of values education is manifested through various religious habituation activities, including the recitation of Asmaul Husna in the morning, congregational prayers, daily supplications, and collective dhikr. This synergy has proven effective in creating a “cultural shield” that helps construct students’ religious identities amidst the heterogeneity and challenges of the surrounding social environment. The study recommends the formal codification of school culture policies to ensure the sustainability and preservation of these values over time.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the mechanisms and strategies for internalizing spiritual values at SD Islam Kurma Salatiga in shaping student integrity, with a primary focus on exploring a holistic strategy that bridges ritualistic practices into transformative behavior. Employing a qualitative method with a case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentary studies, which were then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana through the lenses of Herbert Kelman’s internalization theory and Al-Attas’s concept of ta’dib. The results indicate that the internalization of spiritual values is carried out through three simultaneous stages: first, the institutionalization of values through an integrated curriculum (hablum minallah, minannas, minal ‘alam), habituation, and teacher exemplary behavior (uswah hasanah); second, the subjectification of values through the pedagogical technique of the "CCTV analogy" to build ihsan awareness, which successfully shifts student motivation from external compliance to internal control (metaphysical integrity); and third, externalization and consistency through the "Smart Book" instrument and the POMG (Parents and Teachers Association) forum to ensure character continuity within the family environment. The novelty of this research proves that the synergy between logical supervision (the CCTV metaphor) and spiritual supervision effectively forms an "internal control system" in elementary school students, confirming that a holistic strategy integrating the roles of schools and parents is capable of transforming ritual obedience into autonomous self-integrity as a tangible manifestation of the khairu ummah generation amidst the challenges of the digital era.
