Abstract

The concept of sacrifice is one of the central themes in biblical theology and undergoes significant development from the Old Testament to the New Testament. Although the doctrine of the finality of Christ’s sacrifice has long been recognized as a foundational element of Christian theology, various contemporary church practices still tend to interpret sacrifice within legalistic and transactional frameworks, resulting in an incomplete understanding of the theological significance of Christ’s finished work. In response to this issue, this study aims to analyze the sacrificial system in the Old Testament, explain its fulfillment in the person and work of Jesus Christ, and examine the theological implications of Jesus’ declaration, “It is finished” (Tetelestai) in John 19:30, for contemporary Christian faith and practice. This research employs a qualitative library-based approach through exegetical analysis of biblical texts related to sacrifice and a review of relevant theological literature. The findings indicate that the Old Testament sacrificial system was typological in nature and found its definitive fulfillment in Christ’s sacrifice, which was offered once for all (ephapax). The declaration Tetelestai affirms the finality of Christ’s redemptive work, the fulfillment of Messianic prophecy, and His victory over sin and death. The novelty of this study lies in its integration of biblical analysis, systematic theology, and pastoral reflection to explain the transformation of the concept of sacrifice from a ritual means of atonement to a response of faith expressed through a life of dedication, service, and worship. This study concludes that Christ’s sacrifice brought the need for ritual atoning sacrifices to an end while simultaneously providing the foundation for a Christian life characterized by gratitude, devotion, and obedience rooted in the grace of God.AbstrakKonsep korban merupakan salah satu tema sentral dalam teologi Alkitab yang mengalami perkembangan signifikan dari Perjanjian Lama hingga Perjanjian Baru.

Abstract

Abstract The 47th Camp Pria Sejati Bandung (PSB) community service activity aimed to shape men's character based on holistic, relevant, and transformative Christian values within the context of family and society. The camp was conducted over two days and included a series of preparatory sessions, learning sessions, discipleship, and a 49-day follow-up devotional program in small groups. The methods employed included participatory, reflective, and educational approaches, with materials derived from Edwin Louis Cole’s book Maximized Manhood. A total of 32 participants were organized into small groups facilitated by nine trained facilitators. The activity resulted in personal transformation, deeper spiritual engagement, and renewed commitment to fulfilling roles as family leaders and community members. Challenges encountered included participants' diverse spiritual backgrounds and time commitment constraints; however, these were addressed effectively through relational and community-based strategies. Evaluation results indicated that the majority of participants demonstrated increased understanding of men's responsibilities in both domestic and social roles. This program has the potential to serve as a replicable model for men's empowerment rooted in spiritual values across various communities.

Abstract

This study examines Psalm 90:10 through a hermeneutic approach to understand the phrases "Shiv'im Shanah" (seventy years) and "Koach Gvurot" (eighty years of strength) in the context of Hebrew theology and literature. This study highlights the traditional interpretation that often interprets this verse as a limit on human lifespan, and explores its historical, literary, and theological context. Using qualitative research methods based on literature study and a Gadamerian hermeneutic approach, this article offers a new perspective that considers the original author's intent, contextual relevance, and theological implications for the contemporary church. This study shows that this verse does not simply set a limit on human lifespan, but highlights the existential limitations of humans before the eternal God. These findings provide new insights into how this verse can be applied in the theological teaching of the contemporary church, especially in reflections on wisdom, mortality, and dependence on God.
