Abstract

The level of damage caused by P. xylostella reached 75%. Until now, the control still relies on the use of chemical insecticides. Efforts to minimize control with chemicals need to be done because chemical control has a negative impact on health and the environment, one of the environmentally friendly controls that can be applied is the use of plant-based insecticides which of course contain active compounds that can suppress and even kill pests. One type of plant that can be used as a vegetable insecticide is basil (Ocimum basilicum). Researchers conducted research using basil extract as a vegetable insecticide to control Plutella xylostella pests. The method used is the dyeing method (residue on the leaves of the feed). Using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments: extract concentration 15%, 25%, 35%, 45% and control, 5 replications. The results showed that the highest mortality was found at a concentration of 45%, namely 80.75%, the higher the killing power because the increase in concentration was directly proportional to the increase in toxic substances, the number of toxic compounds contained in the extract made the mortality high. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that basil extract is effective in controlling P. xylostella pests.

Abstract

Alternative pest control that can be done is by utilizing natural ingredients (biopesticides) one of the plants that can be used as biopesticides, namely basil leaves (Ocimum basilicum). Crocidolomia pavonana F., is one of the important pests that attack cabbage plants, this pest attacks cabbage plants from the seedling phase to the formation of the crop. The purpose of this research is expected to be a solution and source of information for cabbage farmers in carrying out effective control techniques against C. pavonana pests and safe for plants and consumer health and even the environment. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD), consisting of 5 treatments, namely extract concentrations of 15%, 25%, 35%, 45% and control, repeated 5 times. Based on the results of the study, it was shown that the biopesticide of basil leaf extract (Ocimum basilicum) was effective in controlling C. pavonana pests on cabbage plants. Where the extract concentration of 15% has caused mortality, until the best mortality was found on the fifth day of observation at the 45% extract concentration treatment, namely 58%. The results of this research certainly need to be developed because it is an environmentally friendly research and easy to apply in the field.

Abstract

Researchers feel it is necessary to conduct this research. The results of the research will provide answers, provide differences and even novelty in knowledge of the abundance and diversity of pests, so that it can make it easier for farmers to control them. The research method carried out went through several stages such as preparation, location determination, sampling using three fishing techniques: Pitfall trap, yellow sticky trap and net trap. The results of research on the diversity of teak plant pests show a range between 0.52-1.34, namely the low category. The high and low diversity of researchers is guided by the Shannon-Wienner index criteria which categorizes the diversity value of a species (H'), so the results of this study show low category diversity because it has an H' value of less than 1.5. Meanwhile, the highest pest diversity was found at location I with pitfall traps, namely with a diversity index value of 1.34. For the abundance research results, there were three pest species with the highest abundance values in each location, namely the first location, the Neotermes tectonae sp species, the second location, the Lasius fuligunosus sp species. and, the species Valanga nigricornis sp. at the third location.

Abstract

Researchers conducted research on the effectiveness of mulu bebe banana peel as an alternative edible coating to increase the shelf life of tomatoes. This research aims to find a method for making edible coating from Mulu Bebe banana peel with several concentrations so that it can extend the shelf life of tomatoes. The benefit of this research is to extend the shelf life of tomatoes. The research was carried out from June to September 2023, carried out at the BASIC SCIENCE Laboratory at Hein Namotemo University. Things that were observed were changes in the texture, color and weight of the tomatoes during the day of observation. The results of the research on changes in the texture of tomatoes, tomatoes without treatment (concentration 0%) until the twelfth day of observation, the surface of the fruit skin began to wrinkle and when held the tomatoes were no longer hard (soft and rotting), in contrast to tomatoes with treatment, edible concentration coating 20% and 25% fruit skin is still as on the first day of observation only slightly wrinkled. The color change was also very different between the control and concentration treatments. In terms of tomato fruit weight, the smallest loss value compared to other concentrations was found in the 25% edible coating concentration treatment from an initial weight of 72 grams to 69.2 grams on the twelfth day, only losing 2.8 grams in weight.

Abstract

Abstract

Research on the development of several types of banana peels as an alternative edible coating is important to increase the shelf life of tomatoes, the purpose of the study was to produce the best edible coating from the three types of banana peels. Observations were made on changes in the texture of tomatoes and weighing the weight of tomatoes (fruit shrinkage) for 7 days of observation. Weight loss analysis with qualitative methods. The results showed changes in the shape of tomatoes before and after the application of edible coating. From 3 types of banana peels, it was shown that tomatoes that were applied with edible coating had a good texture until the seventh day compared to tomatoes without treatment. The results of the analysis of tomato weight loss showed a difference in the decrease in tomato weight loss, the application of edible coating with goroho banana peels showed the smallest fruit weight loss figure of 0.33 grams, followed by the application of 45% edible coating mulu bebe bananas 0.50 grams and raja bananas 0.83 grams, this is suspected that the pectin content of goroho banana peels is higher than the pectin content in mulu bebe banana peels and raja banana peels. The results of the study obtained good results. This research is good because it can be developed and applied by the community because it is safe for consumers.

Abstract

The use of yard land is relatively minimal, a lot of yard land is used as idle land, a lot of yard land is only covered with grass. This of course results in minimal development of various innovations related to yard land and the unavailability of spices and vegetables for consumption by the community. Based on these reasons, community service activities were carried out in Saminyamau Village with the title Utilizing House Yards as a Place for Cultivating Spices and Vegetables. Community Service Activities will be held on June 29 2023, located in the Saminyamau Village Office Yard. In its implementation, the speaker conveyed some information on several techniques for cultivating vegetables and herbs that can be used, with the aim of optimizing the potential of yard land to meet the family's daily food needs and providing motivation for the community to make maximum use of yard land which, if it continues to be developed, can be used as a village business. to become a village that is independent of spices and vegetables.
