Abstract

School age is one of the community groups that is a priority for the national health program. Various health problems of school-age children are a concern of parents.  To deal with their school age children's condition, parents require a variety of health issues solutions. Parents commonly prefer to seek for information on their gadgets by using the internet. These many concerns, problems, and issues that parents have about their children's health have motivated an in-depth exploration of parents' digital literacy skills in tracing information. This study aims to determine the frequency with which parents of school-aged children track health information and investigate the issue that 109 parents of school-aged children are interested in based on health issues in East Kalimantan. The sample was chosen using an accidental sampling technique. In this study, a simple questionnaire with closed and open questions was used as a survey method. A univariate and bivariate test were performed to process data on frequency with which parents seek health problems as well as its relationship to respondent characteristics, the Spearman rank test was used. The result is health information about screen time risk was most frequently accessed by parents, but compared to other issues, the nutrition issue is significantly deeper. It will be necessary to develop interventions like health promotion programs that parents will utilize in improving their health literacy, especially about children’s health in the school

Abstract

association with levels of social support and physical activity, which play a role in adolescents’ future health. This cross-sectional study aimed to examine the associations between ACEs, social support, Body Mass Index (BMI), and physical activity among adolescents in Samarinda, Indonesia.Method: A sample of 246 participants completed an online self-administered questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients, and chi-square tests were used to explore associations among variables. Mediation and moderation analyses were conducted using the PROCESS macro.Result: The findings revealed that ACEs were negatively associated with perceived social support (β = -0.1949, p < 0.001) and positively associated with physical activity (β = 0.0834, p = 0.0062). Perceived social support was negatively associated with physical activity (β = -0.2002, p = 0.0004) and partially mediated the relationship between ACEs and physical activity, with a significant indirect effect (β = 0.0390, 95% CI [0.0156, 0.0675]). The moderated mediation analysis revealed that BMI did not significantly moderate the direct or indirect effects, although the indirect pathway remained significant across different levels of BMI. The study demonstrated that perceived social support partially mediated the relationship between ACEs and physical activity. This mediation pathway remained significant regardless of BMI level, while BMI did not show a moderating effect. Conclusion these findings suggest that social support partially explains how ACEs influence physical activity, regardless of BMI.

Abstract

Smoking activities in the house are still common among families in Indonesia. This behavior can reduce the quality of family members' health, and the smoke produced from smoking activities for a while can affect the quality of the physical environment in the house. The low knowledge of family members regarding the dangers of cigarette smoke is one of the factors causing delays in efforts to reduce exposure to cigarette smoke at the household level. Housewives have an important role in fighting indoor cigarette smoke. This activity aims to increase the role of mothers in fighting cigarette smoke, especially by increasing knowledge about the dangers of cigarette smoke and effective communication with the family.  The methods of implementing activities, include: 1) planning stages through community surveys to get an overview of the problem, 2) preparation with community leaders in preparing educational agendas and games, 3) implementation of activities by using power point media and flipcharts, and ranking 1 game which is used as the pretest process, and the final stage is, 4) evaluation of results by looking at the results of the pretest and posttest as well as process evaluation. The results of the activity obtained were an increase in the mother's knowledge regarding the dangers of cigarette smoke at home with an increase in the average pretest and posttest scores of the participants. The aspect of increased knowledge is that cigarette smoke cannot be described quickly in the house, because cigarette particles will stick to the surfaces of objects in the house for 4-6 hours. The limitations of the activity, there were a few technical obstacles to educational facilities and the psychological unpreparedness of some participants which were resulting in a lack of focus in discussion. Further research on the impact of smoking in the home still needs to determine the quality of health at the family level, and educational interventions based on behavior change are also needed for the primary target (active smokers) to create a smoke-free home at community level.
