Abstract

Abstract

Background: The incidence of dysmenorrhoea worldwide is 92%, and primary dysmenorrhea cases are more than half. Dysmenorrhea interferes with products, decreases quality of life, increases health costs, and increases dependent drug consumption, all of which adversely affect health. This study aimed to determine the effect of back massage on primary dysmenorrhea in adolescents. Methods: Quasi-experimental one-group design research. Samples were determined incidentally and obtained from adolescents. Data analysis using the paired sample t-test. Results: There is an effect between back massage and dysmenorrhea (p-value 0.000). Back massage can reduce 80% of primary dysmenorrhea. Conclusion: We need to socialize back massages as an alternative to primary dysmenorrhea therapy in the community.

Abstract

Indonesia is the 7th most religious country in the world, with a majority Muslim population. Research revealed that 22.6% of teenagers engaged in risky sexual behavior, leading to pregnancies that may result in severe health complications or even fatalities. Parents play a very important role in this phenomenon. The purpose of this study was to determine the description and influence of parental and adolescent religiosity on adolescent sexual behavior. Religiosity is discussed based on the teachings of Islam. This type of research method was descriptive correlation. The sample collection technique combines incidentally and snowball techniques. Adolescents and parents who have filled out the questionnaire redistribute it to fellow adolescents who meet the inclusion criteria (adolescent age 10-18 years old, not married, adolescents and parents had the same religion, namely Islam and were willing to be respondents). Data analysis using SmartPLS 3. The sample consisted of 97 adolescents aged 10-18 years and 97 parents. There is a strong, positive and stastitically significant influence of parental religiosity on adolescent religiosity (R2: 0.315, path coefficient 0.561, t-value: 7.984, and p-value 0.000). Second, there is a low, but statistically significant negative influence of adolescent religiosity on adolescent sexual behavior (R2: 0.193, path coefficient -0.440, t-value: 6.592, p-value 0.000). Parental religiosity makes a large contribution to variations in adolescent religiosity (f2: 0.460) and adolescent religiosity makes a moderate contribution to variations in adolescent sexual behavior (f2: 0.240). It is important for parents to instill the values of religiosity to their children so that they can fortify themselves from free sexual behavior.

Abstract

Approximately 60% of acceptors expressed dissatisfaction with contraceptive counseling services, which has resulted in a 0.7% decrease in modern contraceptive use in the last five years. One important factor in the sustainability of contraceptive use is the suitability of the acceptor's medical condition. This study aimed to determine the relationship between medical appropriateness and plans for continued use of the IUD-Cu. This study used a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected through structured interviews using a Medical Eligibility Criteria (MEC) application-based questionnaire. This application was created by WHO based on the 5th edition of the 2015 MEC for Contraceptive use guidebook. The sample was purposively selected, and 280 IUD-Cu acceptors were obtained. Univariate analysis was performed with frequency distribution and categorization of medical eligibility, while bivariate analysis used Chi-Square test and Prevalence Ratio (PR) with 95% CI. The results showed that 92.9% of acceptors were medically fit to use IUD-Cu, while 7.1% were not fit. A total of 12.1% of acceptors planned to change contraceptives. There was a significant association between medical eligibility and plans to continue using the IUD-Cu (p = 0.000; PR = 3.077; 95% CI: 1.574-6.015), indicating that medically eligible acceptors had 3.077 times greater potential to continue using the IUD-Cu than those who were not eligible. Therefore, it is recommended to optimize pre-installation screening of IUD-Cu with medical criteria-based tools so that the sustainability of contraceptive use can be maintained and women's reproductive rights are maximally fulfilled.
