This research aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning (PBL) onConcept Understanding in class III students. This research was carried out at SDN3 Singkawang. The type of research used is quantitative research using a quasiexperimental design method (quasi-experiment), with a Nonequivalent ControlGroup Design design. This design is almost the same as the pretest-posttest controlgroup design. The population in this study was all class III of SDN 3 Singkawang. This research uses the type of sampling in this research, namely simple randomsampling, that is, sampling members from the population is carried out randomlywithout paying attention to the stages in the population. The class used as a sampleis class III. Class III consists of 2 classes, namely class A and class B. Aftersampling, the class selected as the experimental class in this research was class IIIA with a total of 23 students, while the control class was class III B with a total of 23students. Class III A is the experimental class because it will be given a treatment, while class III B is the control class because it will not be given treatment. The resultsof the research conclude: 1) There is a difference in students' understanding ofscience concepts using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted byMonopoly media and the direct learning model in class III students at SDN 3Singkawang. 2) There was an increase in students' understanding of scienceconcepts after applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted byMonopoly media to the understanding of science concepts in class III students atSDN 3 Singkawang. 3) There was a positive response from students after applyingthe Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Monopoly media to theunderstanding of science concepts in class III students at SDN 3 Singkawang
