Abstract

Korean drama is one type of entertainment that is very popular, which not only presents stories, but also represents life experiences that are relevant to its viewers. However, research that examines the role of drama viewing in relation to psychological aspects, especially resilience influenced by social support, is still limited. This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and resilience among viewers of the drama Twenty-Five Twenty-One. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The research subjects consisted of 129 respondents aged 13–50 years who had watched at least 75% of the episodes, selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using an online questionnaire consisting of a social support scale based on the theory of Sidney Cobb (1976) and a resilience scale, the Brief Resilience Scale by Smith et al. (2008). Data analysis was conducted using the Pearson correlation test. The results of the study show that there is a positive and significant relationship between social support and resilience (r = 0.333; p < 0.05). These findings show that social support plays a role in increasing resilience, and indicate that drama media can be a means of reflection that contributes to strengthening mental resilience in the context of counseling.
