Abstract

The sociology of sport is a branch of science that studies the relationship between sport and society. This study examines how sporting activities are influenced by social, cultural, economic, and political values, as well as interactions between individuals in social life. This article aims to explain various key theories in the sociology of sport, such as functionalism, conflict theory, symbolic interactionism, feminism, and critical theory. Through an understanding of these theories, it can be seen that sport functions not only as a physical activity but also as a medium for character formation, social identity, solidarity, and even an arena for competition for social and economic interests.
