Abstract

Sport serves not only as a physical activity and entertainment, but also has a close relationship with politics and power. In various countries, sport is often used as a tool to build national identity, enhance the country's image, and strengthen political influence in society. The relationship between sport and politics is evident in the organization of international events, the use of athletes' achievements as symbols of national pride, and government intervention in sports organizations. This article aims to examine the relationship between sport, politics, and power through a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of the discussion indicate that sport can be a medium of diplomacy, a tool of political propaganda, and a means of establishing the legitimacy of power. However, excessive political interference can also lead to conflict and reduce the independence of the sporting world.
