Abstract

This research aims to find out and identify the types of epiphytic plants found on oil palm trunks at Nagari Sikabau, Dharmasraya Regency. Apart from that, the results of this research were also developed in the form of learning media in the form of booklets to provide scientific information to the public and plantation workers. This research is a descriptive study with a sampling technique using a purposive sampling method combined with stratified sampling based on the planting age of the oil palm (5, 10 and 15 years). Data was collected through field observations, interviews and documentation. The plant samples found were identified at the Botany Laboratory of PGRI University of West Sumatra by comparing vegetative and generative morphological characters based on standard literature. As many as 25 species of epiphytic plants belonging to various families were found in the oil palm plantation. Some of the species found include Nephrolepis bisserata, Davallia denticulata, Asplenium nidus, Mikania micrantha, Clidemia hirta, and Ficus benjamina. The results of this identification are then compiled into a booklet on the diversity of epiphytic plants which is designed as an interesting, informative and practical information and learning medium to carry.
