Abstract

This study is an R&D (Research and Development) study. The product developed in this study is an instrument for assessing initial cognitive and non-cognitive abilities in physics learning via a Google Forms-based website in the 11th-grade class at SMAN 13 Makassar. The objectives of this study are to describe the development process of an instrument for assessing initial cognitive and non-cognitive abilities in physics learning via a Google Forms-based website in Grade 11 at SMAN 13 Makassar and to analyze the validity, practicality, and reliability of the instrument for assessing initial cognitive and non-cognitive abilities in physics learning via a Google Forms-based website in Grade 11 at SMAN 13 Makassar. The development model used is the Tessmer model, which consists of four steps: Preliminary, Self-evaluation, Prototyping, and Field Test. The test subjects in this study were 35 students in Class XI A at SMAN 13 Makassar. The validators for this study consisted of two individuals: a physics education lecturer and a physics teacher. The instruments used were a validation sheet and a student response questionnaire. The results of the study indicate that the cognitive and non-cognitive initial ability instruments developed via a Google Forms-based website met the validity criteria, as the validation results fell within the Strong-Strong relevance level with a D index classified in the high validity category. The student response questionnaire indicated that the developed instrument met the criteria for being highly practical, as the students’ response scores averaged 25.3, which falls within the practicality range of P > 23.8. The reliability test results for the cognitive questions were 0.9432, falling into the very high category, while the non-cognitive instrument scored 0.71243 for the learning interest aspect and 0.7333 for the learning motivation aspect, both falling into the high category. The implications of this study are that educators find it easier to evaluate students’ initial abilities, and students provide very practical and positive responses after using the cognitive and non-cognitive initial ability instruments via a Google Forms-based website.
