Abstract

Indonesian language learning in elementary schools still faces challenges in improving students’ questioning skills because the learning process tends to be teacher-centered and provides limited opportunities for students to actively ask questions. This study aimed to improve students’ questioning skills through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model in Indonesian language learning for fourth-grade students at SDI Al-Azhar Kayangan in the 2025/2026 academic year. This research employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects were 22 fourth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and performance tests and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that teacher activity increased from 76.67% to 90%, while student activity improved from 70% to 86.67%. Students’ questioning skills also improved, with the average score increasing from 74.55 and classical learning completeness of 77.28% in Cycle I to 82.5 and 95.45% in Cycle II. Therefore, the Discovery Learning model effectively improved students’ questioning skills and active participation in Indonesian language learning.
