Abstract

Civic Education plays a crucial role within the educational system as it is closely linked to the development of citizens’ character, identity, and competencies. This study aims to examine the essence of Civic Education as an instrument for forming intelligent and responsible citizens. The research is grounded in the need to strengthen civic awareness amid social dynamics and global developments. A qualitative approach with a literature study method was employed, using scholarly journals and academic books as data sources. Content analysis was applied to explore the concepts of civic knowledge, civic skills, and civic disposition. The findings reveal that Civic Education functions not only as knowledge transmission but also as a means of fostering critical thinking, active participation, and democratic attitudes. Civic Education contributes to legal awareness, social responsibility, and national commitment. Therefore, Civic Education serves as a vital foundation for nurturing rational, ethical, and participatory citizens.
