Abstract

The purpose of this study was to reduce the speaking anxiety of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 5 Bedulu for the 2025/2026 academic year through the application of flash card media. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, comprising planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 18 fourth-grade students (10 females and 8 males). Data was collected through observation and oral performance tests. The results showed a significant reduction in students' speaking anxiety. In the pre-cycle, the classical completion rate was only 16.67% with an average score of 44.44. After implementing digital flash cards combined with a direct instruction model in Cycle I, the completion rate increased to 38.89% with an average score of 64.81. In Cycle II, it further improved significantly to 83.33% with an average score of 77.16, successfully exceeding the targeted 80% success indicator. It can be concluded that the use of flash card media effectively reduces speaking anxiety and increases students' confidence to speak in front of the class.
