Abstract

This study sought to ascertain how using the Question Answer Relationship (QAR) strategy affected fifth-grade primary school pupils' capacity for inferential reading. A quantitative pre-experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design was employed. Thirty-one fifth-graders from SD Negeri 05 Lubang Buaya served as the study's subjects. Pretests and posttests were used to gather data, and SPSS software version 25 was used to evaluate the results using the Shapiro-Wilk and Wilcoxon Signed-Rank tests. The Wilcoxon test findings revealed a signed Asymp. value (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05, indicating that fifth-grade primary school students' inferential reading skills were significantly impacted by the use of the QAR technique. From the pretest to the posttest, the scores of 28 out of 31 pupils increased. Students' inferential reading skills were therefore improved using the QAR strategy.
