Abstract

This study aims to improve students' learning outcomes on the food chain topic through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model for fifth-grade students at UPTD SD Inpres Tarus 1. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages conducted in two cycles. The research subjects were 24 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, learning achievement tests, and documentation, and were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The pre-cycle results showed that only 8 students (33%) achieved the Minimum Learning Mastery Criteria (KKTP), while 16 students (67%) did not achieve mastery. After the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model, the percentage of students achieving learning mastery increased to 92% in Cycle II, with an average learning outcome score of 83.54. Teacher activity also improved from 74.22 in Cycle I to 96.09 in Cycle II, while student activity increased from 44.77 to 81.43. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model is effective in improving students' learning outcomes on the food chain topic in Grade V at UPTD SD Inpres Tarus 1.
