Abstract

Introduction: The Project Based Learning (PBL) model is effective in improving the competence of nursing students. Table-Top Exercises is one of the PBL model approaches that can be used to learn integrated emergency management systems. The purpose of this study was to explore the experience of nursing students in participating in learning an integrated emergency management system with a Table-Top Exercises approach.Method: Research using qualitative design with phenomenological approach conducted in nursing education institutions in Malang area. The participants involved were 15 nursing students, taken by purposive sampling techniques. Data collection through semi-structure interviews. Data analysis of interview results was carried out through transcripts which were then used to determine the theme of research results.Results: The results illustrate that there are four themes of nursing students' experiences in participating in learning  an integrated emergency management system with  a Table-Top Exercises approach  , including: ability to understand the material, interest in methods, perceived benefits and expectations. Conclusions: Learning an integrated emergency management system with a Table-Top Exercises approach can improve the ability to understand the material, interest in the methods used, feel the benefits more effectively and expect for follow-up to be carried out in learning on campus.
