<![CDATA[Non-biodegradable waste such as plastic, polystyrene, and cans remains a major problem in the Pantai Kulur Ilir tourist area, Kulur Ilir Village, Central Bangka Regency, due to the lack of visual educational media explaining its impact and how long it takes to decompose, so visitor and local awareness of waste management remains low. This community service programme aims to broaden the knowledge of villagers and tourists about the effects and decomposition times of non-biodegradable waste, reduce the habit of littering, and help create a beautiful and sustainable tourist area. The activity was carried out by KKN students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Bangka Belitung through a community education method based on outreach with a qualitative descriptive participatory action model, with active community involvement and the village government, beginning with observation, planning, production, and the installation of educational signs in potential tourist areas. The results showed that the educational signs, equipped with samples of non-biodegradable waste and estimates of decomposition time, such as polystyrene that does not decompose, plastic bottles (500 years), cans (200 years), and milk cartons (20 years), successfully improved community understanding of the 3R concept (reduce, reuse, recycle) and encouraged changes in behaviour when disposing of food waste and household waste. Post-installation review can be seen in the increased understanding of tourists and local residents, although overall behavioural change still requires long-term monitoring. This programme is expected to form the basis for strengthening sustainable environmental awareness in Kulur Ilir Village, while also serving as a concrete example of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through students’ tangible contribution to resolving environmental problems within the community.]]>
