Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes to the learning process of Islamic Religious Education in the modern era. Social media and digital platforms have become innovative tools that support learning activities to be more interactive, flexible, and aligned with the characteristics of today’s students. This study aims to examine the role of social media and digital platforms in improving the quality of Islamic Religious Education learning. The study employed a qualitative approach using a library research design. Data were obtained from scientific articles, books, journals, and various academic sources relevant to the research topic. Data collection techniques were conducted through documentation studies, while data analysis employed content analysis techniques. The findings revealed that social media and digital platforms play an important role in enhancing learning interaction, students’ learning motivation, the effectiveness of material delivery, as well as strengthening digital literacy and students’ religious character. The use of learning videos, educational applications, virtual classrooms, and digital quizzes creates a more engaging and participatory learning environment. The study also found that social media, which is often perceived as a source of distraction, can become an effective learning medium when utilized in a directed and educational manner. Teachers play a crucial role as facilitators in guiding the use of digital technology to ensure it remains aligned with the objectives of Islamic Religious Education learning. This study contributes a comprehensive perspective on the integration of social media, digital platforms, digital literacy, and religious character development in Islamic Religious Education learning in the modern era.
