Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes to the learning process of Islamic Religious Education in the modern era. Social media and digital platforms have become innovative tools that support learning activities to be more interactive, flexible, and aligned with the characteristics of today’s students. This study aims to examine the role of social media and digital platforms in improving the quality of Islamic Religious Education learning. The study employed a qualitative approach using a library research design. Data were obtained from scientific articles, books, journals, and various academic sources relevant to the research topic. Data collection techniques were conducted through documentation studies, while data analysis employed content analysis techniques. The findings revealed that social media and digital platforms play an important role in enhancing learning interaction, students’ learning motivation, the effectiveness of material delivery, as well as strengthening digital literacy and students’ religious character. The use of learning videos, educational applications, virtual classrooms, and digital quizzes creates a more engaging and participatory learning environment. The study also found that social media, which is often perceived as a source of distraction, can become an effective learning medium when utilized in a directed and educational manner. Teachers play a crucial role as facilitators in guiding the use of digital technology to ensure it remains aligned with the objectives of Islamic Religious Education learning. This study contributes a comprehensive perspective on the integration of social media, digital platforms, digital literacy, and religious character development in Islamic Religious Education learning in the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of student reflection journals as a formative evaluation instrument in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) instruction at MI Miftahul ‘Ulum Cikarang Barat. The study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Research informants included the PAI teacher, the madrasa principal, and fifth-grade students. Data collection techniques involved semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and documentation. Data analysis utilized the interactive model proposed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, comprising the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation, method triangulation, member checking, and an audit trail. The results indicate that reflection journals are used routinely at the end of lessons to assess students' understanding, learning experiences, and difficulties during PAI instruction. The use of reflection journals enables teachers to gain deeper insights into students' learning progress and helps determine appropriate follow-up instructional actions. Reflection journals also influence students' learning engagement, critical thinking skills, learning awareness, and the development of their attitudes and religious understanding. The implementation of reflection journals is supported by teacher involvement and student enthusiasm, while challenges include limited instructional time and varying levels of student proficiency in reflective writing. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of reflection journals as a formative evaluation instrument in PAI instruction at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the disruption of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) toward the problem of intolerance among modern multicultural students. The development of AI technology has brought major changes to educational systems, learning patterns, and the ways students understand religious values and social life. This condition creates new challenges for the PAI curriculum in fostering tolerance, religious moderation, and students’ social character in the digital era. This study employed a qualitative approach using library research methods. Research data were obtained from various scientific sources such as journals, books, articles, and academic documents published between 2018 and 2026. Data analysis techniques used content analysis through stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that AI disruption has transformed the PAI learning paradigm into a more digital, flexible, and interactive technology-based system. The use of AI in education provides opportunities to strengthen digital literacy, religious moderation, and multicultural learning. On the other hand, AI development also has the potential to increase the spread of intolerance, digital radicalism, and exclusive religious understanding when it is not balanced with character education and ethical supervision. The PAI curriculum requires a humanistic approach, religious moderation, and digital literacy development to create students who are tolerant, inclusive, and adaptive to modern technological developments.

Abstract

The academic participation of passive students remains a challenge in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (Islamic elementary school) instruction due to low student engagement in classroom activities. This situation highlights a gap between the demands of active learning and actual classroom practices. This study aims to analyze the influence of peer coaching and psychological safety on the academic participation of passive students at MI Miftahul ‘Ulum Cikarang Barat. A quantitative approach with an explanatory survey design was employed. The sample consisted of 35 students selected via purposive sampling based on characteristics indicating a tendency toward low academic participation. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that had undergone validity and reliability testing. Data analysis was conducted using simple and multiple linear regression with the aid of SPSS software. The results indicate that peer coaching has a positive and significant effect on the academic participation of passive students, contributing 26.8%. Psychological safety also exerts a positive and significant influence, contributing 31.7%. Simultaneous analysis reveals that peer coaching and psychological safety combined have a stronger impact on enhancing the academic participation of passive students. The findings demonstrate that peer support and psychological safety play a crucial role in boosting students' confidence to ask questions, engage in discussions, and participate actively in learning. This study contributes to the development of collaborative and humanistic learning strategies aimed at creating a participatory learning environment at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level.
