Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Total Physical Response (TPR) Learning Method and Learning Motivation on the Learning Engagement of students at Buddhist Sunday Schools (SMB) across Vihara Vimuttara Jambi. This study employed a quantitative approach using a causal correlational survey method. The independent variables in this study were the TPR Learning Method (X1) and Learning Motivation (X2), while the dependent variable was Student Learning Engagement (Y). Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to teachers and students of Buddhist Sunday Schools across Vihara Vimuttara Jambi. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression, multiple linear regression, and correlation analysis to examine the partial and simultaneous effects among the variables. The results showed that the TPR Learning Method had a positive and significant effect on Student Learning Engagement, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.756 and a coefficient of determination of R² = 0.571 (57.1%). Learning Motivation also had a positive and significant effect on Student Learning Engagement, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.658 and a coefficient of determination of R² = 0.433 (43.3%). Simultaneously, the TPR Learning Method and Learning Motivation made a significant contribution to Student Learning Engagement. In conclusion, the better the implementation of TPR and the higher the Learning Motivation, the higher the Student Learning Engagement.
