Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of problem-solving skills and social support on the resilience of private high school students in Jakarta. The background of the study is based on initial observations indicating that some students still have low problem-solving skills, particularly in identifying the core of problems, systematically developing alternative solutions, and evaluating problem-solving outcomes. In addition, social support from family, school, and peers remains relatively low, potentially affecting students’ ability to cope with academic and social pressures. This study employed a quantitative approach using a causal survey method and correlation techniques. The research variables consisted of problem-solving skills (X1), social support (X2), and student resilience (Y). Data were collected through questionnaires using a rating scale administered to private high school students in Jakarta during the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, regression, correlation, and hypothesis testing. The results showed that problem-solving skills had a positive and significant effect on resilience, with a correlation coefficient of 0.467 and a contribution of 21.8%. Social support also had a positive and significant effect, with a correlation coefficient of 0.606 and a contribution of 36.7%. Simultaneously, both variables had a positive and significant effect on resilience, with a correlation coefficient of 0.614 and a coefficient of determination of 37.7%.
