Abstract

This study examines the optimization of the Village Consultative Body (BPD) role in channeling community aspirations related to education in Cengkong Village, Purwasari District, Karawang Regency. The research problem arises from limited educational facilities, population growth, and the need to strengthen village literacy through a barcode-based digital library. This study aims to explain the role of BPD in bridging community aspirations and to analyze the application of good governance principles in village education governance. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through direct interviews, observation, and documentation. The analysis connects field findings with Santosa’s principles of good governance, including participation, rule of law, transparency, responsiveness, consensus, equal rights, effectiveness, and efficiency. The findings show that BPD acts as a bridge for community aspirations through village meetings, weekly forums, night patrol gatherings, and religious gatherings. However, this role remains limited by budget constraints, unsystematic aspiration recording, and the unrealized construction of educational facilities.
