Abstract

This research was motivated by teachers' use of conventional teaching methods, which left students unable to re-explain or independently summarize the material presented to them. To address this and strengthen students' conceptual understanding, an environment-based learning model was implemented. This study aims to describe and examine the change in eleventh-grade students' physics learning outcomes before and after the model was applied. The research employed a pre-experimental design, with 32 eleventh-grade science (XI MIPA 1) students serving as the research subjects. Learning outcomes were measured using a 32-item multiple-choice test instrument. The collected data were then processed through descriptive analysis to calculate the mean, standard deviation, and variance, followed by an N-Gain test to determine the learning model's effectiveness in improving students' learning outcomes. The findings show that students' average score, which was initially 50.62 before treatment, rose to 66.56 after the intervention. However, the N-Gain test fell into the moderate category, with an effectiveness level of 42%, indicating a less-than-optimal improvement. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that although students' learning outcomes improved following the implementation of environment-based learning, its level of effectiveness remains relatively low, as the average score achieved did not reach 70. Nevertheless, this model remains a viable option for teaching physics, given the measurable improvement observed in the learning outcomes of eleventh-grade science students at SMA Negeri 3 Enrekang. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for teachers seeking to improve the learning outcomes of eleventh-grade science students at the school.
