Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of career planning and self-efficacy, both partially and simultaneously, on the work readiness of the 2022 cohort students of the Economics Education Study Program at Universitas Jambi. This study was motivated by the importance of students' work readiness in facing increasingly competitive labor market conditions, making well-developed career planning and strong self-efficacy essential to support their readiness for employment. This study employed a quantitative approach using an ex post facto research design. The sample consisted of 82 students selected through a probability sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that had met the validity and reliability requirements. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression, supported by the t-test, F-test, and the coefficient of determination (R²). The results showed that career planning had a positive and significant effect on work readiness (t = 4.692; p = 0.000), self-efficacy had a positive and significant effect on work readiness (t = 2.915; p = 0.005), and both variables simultaneously had a positive and significant effect on work readiness (F = 98.548; p = 0.000). The findings indicate that career planning and self-efficacy are important factors in improving students' work readiness and can serve as a basis for higher education institutions in designing more effective and sustainable career development programs.
