Abstract

This community engagement program aims to improve the welfare of waste pickers at the Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Disposal Site, Bekasi, through economic empowerment based on catfish farming and value-added shredded catfish production. The program includes training in aquaculture, food processing, business management, digital marketing through e-commerce, and continuous mentoring. Household organic waste is utilized as alternative fish feed, promoting green economy and circular economy principles. Expected outcomes include improved entrepreneurial skills, stronger managerial capacity, wider market access, and increased household income and business independence. The program also supports the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM), university Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly poverty reduction, decent work and economic growth, responsible consumption and production, and partnerships for sustainable development.
