Abstract

The role of the Director of Photography (DoP) in the video feature "Controlling the Air in Aeromodelling Flight Technique Balance" is crucial in packaging the technical narrative into a communicative visual language. This study aims to analyze the application of cinematographic elements in the form of camera angle, camera movement, type of shot, and composition in video works documenting the activities of the Rajawali Aeromodelling Club community at Sulaiman Air Base. The creation formula focused on how the dynamic movement of the miniature aircraft as well as the frequency control could be visually translated to make it informative to the general public. The concept of creating this work is based on visual communication theory and cinematography techniques, especially framing arrangements, camera movements, and the use of natural lighting in an open field (airfield). The production techniques applied by DoP include the use of telephoto lenses for focus tracking on fast-moving objects, as well as camera angle variations to capture pilot interactions. The results of the discussion showed that the pre-production stage to mature production was able to represent the essence of flying mechanics with precision. The conclusion of this Final Project emphasizes that the combination of dynamic camera movements and precise visual composition succeeds in conveying an abstract narrative about "air balance" into an educational and aesthetic media show.
