Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has significantly transformed educational practices, especially poetry writing instruction. However, many students still struggle to express their creativity due to the limited integration of digital literacy in the classroom. This study examines the correlation between Indonesian language teachers' roles and students' digital poetry writing skills at the junior secondary level. Using a quantitative correlational design supported by qualitative observations, this study examined 37 eighth-grade students from SMP Negeri 5 Cimahi. The Pearson correlation test revealed a very strong and significant relationship between teachers’ roles and students’ poetry-writing skills (r = 0.981, p < 0.001). Regression analysis showed that teacher performance was explained by students’ writing competence 96.3% of the time (R² = 0.963). Qualitative findings highlighted teachers’ strategic roles as designers, guides, motivators, facilitators, and evaluators when using digital platforms such as Padlet, Canva, and Instagram. Integrating digital literacy improved writing performance and stimulated creativity, collaboration, and intrinsic motivation. These results underscore the pivotal role of Indonesian language teachers as digital literacy facilitators who bridge traditional literary instruction with digital innovation to cultivate creative, independent, and literate 21st-century learners.
