Abstract

Worker resilience has become an important topic in occupational and organizational psychology due to increasing work demands, technological changes, and workplace stress. Resilience is viewed as a psychological resource that helps workers adapt, recover, and maintain effective functioning under stressful conditions. This study aimed to review the literature on worker resilience by identifying its influencing factors, impacts, and research gaps. A narrative literature review approach was applied by analyzing 10 relevant national and international journal articles published between 2016 and 2026. The reviewed studies included quantitative and qualitative research across various occupational sectors. The findings showed that resilience contributes significantly to reducing work stress and burnout while enhancing psychological well-being, work engagement, and employee performance. Workers with high resilience demonstrated stronger coping skills, emotional regulation, optimism, and self-efficacy. External factors, including family support, coworker relationships, organizational support, leadership, and meaningful work, also influenced resilience development. However, most studies used cross-sectional designs and focused mainly on healthcare workers, limiting broader occupational understanding. Differences in resilience concepts and measurement instruments further reduced research consistency. Future studies should apply longitudinal and integrative approaches across diverse work sectors to develop sustainable workplace resilience interventions.
