Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of fabric type on the finished result of leg-of-mutton sleeves on women’s tunics using satin Bridal and satin Velvet, viewed from sleeve shape, puff-form stability, and sleeve silhouette. The study used an applied quantitative experiment. Data were collected from 18 panelists consisting of fashion-design lecturers and trained students using a nine-item rating instrument for each fabric. Descriptive data were analyzed using percentages, while inferential analysis used the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene homogeneity test, and independent samples t-test with IBM SPSS Statistics 32. The descriptive results showed that satin Bridal obtained an overall percentage of 93.70% in the very suitable category, while satin Velvet obtained 69.88% in the suitable category. By aspect, satin Bridal obtained 93.70% for sleeve shape, 93.33% for puff-form stability, and 94.07% for silhouette. Satin Velvet obtained 70.00% for sleeve shape, 69.63% for puff-form stability, and 70.00% for silhouette. The independent samples t-test produced a significance value of <0.001, lower than 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the two fabrics. Satin Bridal therefore produced a better finished leg-of-mutton sleeve than satin Velvet.
