Abstract

This research was motivated by the need for knowledge about the effect of different textile materials on the finished results of the spiral pleated origami technique on balero sleeves, since fabric characteristics such as thickness, stiffness, and drape are presumed to affect fold stability, volume, and aesthetic value. This study describes the finished balero sleeves made with the spiral pleated origami technique using bridal satin, mikado silk, and shantung satin, viewed from fold stability, volume, and aesthetics, and determines whether differences in material type produce different results. This is an experimental study with a quantitative approach. Data were collected using a questionnaire assessed by 18 panelists (3 experts and 15 trained panelists from the Fashion Design Study Program, IKK FPP UNP), then analyzed descriptively and inferentially through normality, homogeneity, one-way ANOVA, and Post Hoc Bonferroni tests using SPSS version 26. Results show the mikado silk balero obtained the highest percentage at 83.70% (very suitable), followed by bridal satin at 75.54% (suitable) and shantung satin at 62.88% (fairly suitable). The one-way ANOVA test showed a significance value of 0.000, below 0.05, meaning Ha is accepted and Ho rejected. It can be concluded that material type significantly affects the stability, volume, and aesthetics of balero sleeves, with mikado silk as the most optimal material for this technique.

Abstract

Motivating this research was the fact that SMK Negeri 3 Pekanbaru's Grade XI Fashion Design students were having a hard time with things like precisely measuring themselves, analysing the components of the Kebaya Labuh, and understanding the stages involved in making patterns. Printed work sheets were also the only form of instructional media used before, and they were severely lacking in detail especially when it came to dissecting the Kebaya Labuh's constituent parts and in their ability to lay out the steps involved in creating a pattern. A realistic, practical, and successful electronic jobsheet for making Kebaya Labuh patterns was the goal of this project. The research used an R&D approach, namely the Four-D (4D) development model, which includes the phases of defining the problem, creating a design, creating the product, and finally, distributing it. Students from SMK Negeri 3 Pekanbaru's Fashion Design class in Grade XI participated in the study. Learning outcome assessments, questionnaires, observations, and interviews were used to gather data. The findings indicated that both the material expert validation score of 92.53% and the media expert validation score of 84.33% were considered to be fairly valid. The findings of the practicality test indicated that all three trials the small group trial (91%), the teacher's assessment (93%), and the large group trial (87.55%) were classified as very practical. Additionally, students' learning mastery improved in tandem with an N-Gain score of 0.40 on the effectiveness test, placing it in the moderate category. As a result, the e-jobsheet that was created was deemed valid, practical, and useful for teaching the Kebaya Labuh pattern.

Abstract

This research was motivated by learning of neckline-finishing material in the Basic Fashion subject that was still dominated by lecturing and teacher demonstration, while the media used was limited to textbooks and printed job sheets, so it was less able to support students' independent learning and led to difficulties in following the correct sequence and technique of neckline finishing. This study aimed to develop a learning medium in the form of a neckline-finishing e-module for the Basic Fashion subject that is valid and practical for tenth-grade Fashion students of SMK Negeri 1 Ranah Pesisir. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D development model, limited to the define, design, and develop stages, while the disseminate stage was not carried out due to time, cost, and scope constraints. The instruments used were media-expert and material-expert validation questionnaires and a practicality questionnaire. Validation was carried out by two media experts and three material experts, while the practicality test involved one subject teacher, six students in a small-group trial, and twenty-two students in a large-group trial. The results showed a mean validity score of 96% from media experts and 95% from material experts, both in the very valid category, and mean practicality scores of 95.70% (teacher), 91% (small group), and 89% (large group), all in the very practical category. It can be concluded that the developed e-module is very valid and very practical for use as a learning medium.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of fabric type on the finished result of leg-of-mutton sleeves on women’s tunics using satin Bridal and satin Velvet, viewed from sleeve shape, puff-form stability, and sleeve silhouette. The study used an applied quantitative experiment. Data were collected from 18 panelists consisting of fashion-design lecturers and trained students using a nine-item rating instrument for each fabric. Descriptive data were analyzed using percentages, while inferential analysis used the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene homogeneity test, and independent samples t-test with IBM SPSS Statistics 32. The descriptive results showed that satin Bridal obtained an overall percentage of 93.70% in the very suitable category, while satin Velvet obtained 69.88% in the suitable category. By aspect, satin Bridal obtained 93.70% for sleeve shape, 93.33% for puff-form stability, and 94.07% for silhouette. Satin Velvet obtained 70.00% for sleeve shape, 69.63% for puff-form stability, and 70.00% for silhouette. The independent samples t-test produced a significance value of <0.001, lower than 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the two fabrics. Satin Bridal therefore produced a better finished leg-of-mutton sleeve than satin Velvet.
