Abstract

Rapid developments in artificial intelligence (AI) require educators to adapt to digital change so they can design learning experiences that remain relevant and grounded in real contexts. This community service program aims to strengthen teachers’ digital literacy through the implementation of the “AI for the Nation” initiative at SMA Negeri 11 Muaro Jambi. The program focuses on training teachers in prompt engineering as a foundational skill for using generative AI to develop teaching materials and assessments. The activities were carried out in three main stages: (1) preparation, which involved a needs analysis and the development of training materials based on real cases from the school environment; (2) implementation, conducted through a two-day interactive workshop covering key AI concepts in education, hands-on prompt design practice, and reflective discussion to build critical understanding; and (3) evaluation, carried out through observation of participant activities, assessment of their prompt outputs, and questionnaires to measure improvements in digital literacy. The results show a clear improvement in teachers’ understanding of basic AI concepts and their ability to design effective prompts. This program supports the development of educators’ digital competence and encourages the ethical, creative, and sustainable use of AI in teaching and learning.

Abstract

Students' interest in learning Biology plays a crucial role in achieving meaningful learning outcomes. However, students' learning interest at SMA Negeri 9 Muaro Jambi remains relatively low despite the implementation of various learning strategies by Biology teachers. This study aims to describe the Biology learning strategies implemented by teachers and to examine the level of students' interest in learning Biology at SMA Negeri 9 Muaro Jambi. The research employs a quantitative descriptive approach using a survey design. The population consists of all Grade X and XI students and Biology teachers, with total sampling applied to include all members of the population. Data are collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, while descriptive statistical analysis is used to analyze the data. The study is expected to provide a comprehensive description of the implementation of Biology learning strategies and the level of students' learning interest. The findings are expected to serve as valuable references for teachers and schools in evaluating and improving learning strategies that can effectively enhance students' interest in Biology learning, thereby contributing to the improvement of Biology education quality. Abstract

Purpose: to analyze the level of digital literacy among students of the Biology Education Study Program and to examine its implications for technology-based learning. Method: this research employed a descriptive quantitative approach with purposively selected participants. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire covering five dimensions of digital literacy: information, communication, content creation, social-emotional, and problem solving. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics by calculating mean scores and categorizing literacy levels. Findings: the results indicate that students' overall digital literacy was at a moderate level, with high proficiency in the information and social-emotional dimensions, moderate communication and content-creation skills, and very high problem-solving ability, highlighting the need to strengthen academic digital communication and content creation for learning. Implications: this study implies the need for comprehensive digital literacy development of Biology Education students, including communication skills, content creation, and digital information evaluation, as a basis for strengthening the curriculum and technology-based learning to improve the readiness of prospective biology teachers. Originality: lies in the analysis of digital literacy among Biology Education students based on five DigComp dimensions, which are directly linked to the needs of technology-based biology learning, thereby revealing gaps between technical skills, communication abilities, and academic content creation.
