Abstract

Research Objectives: This study aims to analyze the effects of sales promotion and live shopping on consumers’ purchase intention on the TikTok Shop platform. Design/ Methodology / Approach Research: This study employs a quantitative associative-descriptive approach involving 60 respondents who have purchased products through TikTok Shop live sessions and utilized sales promotions. Data were collected using five-point Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed through multiple linear regression. Research Results: The results show that sales promotion has a positive but insignificant effect on purchase intention (t = 0.504; Sig. = 0.616), while live shopping has a negative and insignificant effect (t = −1.486; Sig. = 0.143). Simultaneously, sales promotion and live shopping do not significantly affect purchase intention (F = 1.275; Sig. = 0.287). The R Square value of 0.043 indicates that these two variables explain only 4.3% of the variation in purchase intention. Implications of Research Results: These findings indicate that sales promotion and live shopping are not the primary determinants of consumers’ purchase intention on TikTok Shop. Therefore, sellers should consider other factors, such as seller trust, product quality, customer reviews, perceived value, and previous shopping experience, to strengthen consumers’ purchase intention.

Abstract

This study examines disparities, sigma convergence, and the regional typology of human development across 11 regencies and cities in Jambi Province during 2020–2025. Using secondary Human Development Index (HDI) data from BPS-Statistics of Jambi Province, the study applies the range, population standard deviation, and coefficient of variation (CV) to evaluate absolute and relative dispersion. Sigma convergence is identified when cross-sectional dispersion declines over time, with the CV used as the primary criterion and the standard deviation and range used as supporting indicators. A four-quadrant typology combines each region's 2020–2025 average HDI with cumulative HDI growth. The mean HDI increased from 71.95 in 2020 to 74.99 in 2025. The CV declined from 4.23% to 3.88% and the standard deviation fell from 3.05 to 2.91, indicating moderate sigma convergence, although the range remained substantial at 11.01 points in 2025. No region occupied Quadrant I. Merangin, Sarolangun, Muaro Jambi, Tanjung Jabung Timur, and Tanjung Jabung Barat were classified as catching-up regions in Quadrant II; Batang Hari and Tebo occupied the low-achievement, low-growth Quadrant III; and Kerinci, Bungo, Jambi City, and Sungai Penuh City occupied the high-achievement, lower-growth Quadrant IV. The results show that rising HDI and declining relative dispersion coexist with a persistent absolute gap. Provincial policy should therefore sustain catching-up momentum, prioritize lagging regions, and protect service quality and inclusion in higher-achievement regions through place-sensitive interventions.
