Abstract

The increasing incidence of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) among the productive-age population has become a serious threat to quality of life and imposes a substantial economic burden. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with CKD stages among productive-age patients. This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design involving 90 respondents aged 15–64 years with stage 4 and 5 CKD, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test to examine the relationship between demographic factors, medical history, and lifestyle variables with CKD stages. The majority of respondents were classified as stage 5 CKD (62%), predominantly within the 45–59-year age group and male patients. Statistical analysis revealed that age, sex, family history, fruit and vegetable consumption, alcohol intake, smoking, physical activity, and hypertension were not significantly associated with CKD stages (p > 0.05). Only obesity showed a significant association (p = 0.038; OR = 0.401), indicating that obese patients were more likely to be in advanced stages of CKD. Obesity is identified as a major contributing factor to CKD progression among the productive-age population at Kardinah Hospital.
