Abstract

Based on the 2024 Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI), the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia was 19.8%, while in Tegal Regency it reached 22.3% in 2022. This study aimed to examine the relationship between the history of complementary feeding (MP-ASI), maternal educational level, and stunting. This quantitative correlational study with a cross-sectional design involved 54 mothers and children aged 24–36 months selected using total sampling. Data were collected through height-for-age (HAZ) measurements based on the Z-score standard and a complementary feeding history questionnaire. Chi-square analysis showed significant associations between complementary feeding history and stunting (p = 0.001) and between maternal educational level and stunting (p = 0.040). Children of mothers with only elementary or junior high school education were at greater risk of stunting. In conclusion, both complementary feeding history and maternal educational level were significantly associated with stunting. Complementary feeding should be introduced at six months of age.
