Abstract

The aim of the research is to analyze the implementation of professional competencies to improvestudents' learning motivation. The research method used in preparing this thesis is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The research results show that: 1) Implementation of teacher professional competence in SMKN. 5 Jeneponto Regency can increase students' learning motivation. 2) Barriers faced by teachers in implementing professional competence to increase students' learning motivation include: a) Lack of competence in mastering the material, structure, concepts and scientific mindset that supports the subjects being taught; b) Teacher administrative tasks that are considered burdensome; c) The teacher's lack of intention to become a professional teacher; d) Teachers do not use their time at school to exchange experiences with fellow teachers about good teaching and learning process (PBM) experiences; e) Lack of teacher interest in innovation; and f) lack of educational facilities that support the Teaching and Learning Process. 3) The efforts made by teachers in implementing professional competencies are as follows:a) There is a legal umbrella for the realization of professional teachers, prosperous and protected teachers based on Law no. 14/2005; b) Increasing teacher competency as a consequence of teachers in the profession; c) Providing teacher welfare through government participation; d) Fulfilling the need for adequate and relevant educational facilities; e) Individuals and groups must have the courage to understand that the teaching profession is a choice, with all its consequences; and f) Teachers must be given space to excel and given appreciation if they can demonstrate quality and competency above standard requirements.
