<![CDATA[This study discusses the dynamics of technological determinism and affordance in group communication, especially the decision-making process in WhatsApp groups. Although the technological determinism perspective emphasizes that the intrinsic characteristics of media directly shape the patterns of group interaction and behavior, the affordance approach offers a more nuanced perspective by considering how group members actively interpret and utilize technological features according to their social context and needs. Through in-depth interviews and qualitative literature review, this study analyzes the role of digital platforms such as WhatsApp and Zoommeet in facilitating information dissemination, coordination, collective participation, while posing challenges such as misinterpretation, ambiguity of multicultural perceptions, and the potential for groupthink. The results of the analysis show that the effectiveness of group communication is not only determined by the technology itself, but by the reciprocal interaction between the materiality of the media and the social construction of reality by the members of the group. The research proposes the importance of integrating both perspectives—technological determinism and affordance—to comprehensively understand the dynamics of decision-making in a digital group communication environment. Practical implications and follow-up research recommendations are also discussed to improve the effectiveness of collaboration in the era of digital transformation.]]>
