Abstract

This study aims to analyze efforts to improve the quality of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) through a program to memorize selected surahs from the Qur'an. The method used was qualitative field research. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with school principals, Islamic Religious Education teachers, and students, supplemented by passive participant observation and documentation studies. Data validity was tested using source and technique triangulation, with interactive data analysis encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that improving the quality of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) was achieved through structured program planning that mapped relevant selected surahs, implementing daily habits that combined the takrar method and peer tutoring, and comprehensive evaluation through a memorization control book involving parents. This program has been proven to have a significant positive impact on improving Qur'an reading competence, improving academic learning outcomes in PAI, developing religious discipline, and strengthening students' character and noble morals. Thus, the planned and collaborative strengthening of the selected surah memorization program is an effective instrument for boosting the quality of Islamic Religious Education holistically and sustainably.
