Abstract

Preeclampsia is a pregnancy complication characterized by hypertension ≥140/90 mmHg and proteinuria occurring after 20 weeks of gestation, which remains a leading cause of maternal mortality in Indonesia and globally. This study aimed to analyze the influence of maternal age on the incidence of mild preeclampsia at UPT RSUD Kuala Kurun. A quantitative observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design was employed, involving 30 respondents selected through total sampling. Data were collected from medical records and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. The results demonstrated that maternal age had a statistically significant influence on mild preeclampsia incidence (Pearson Chi-Square = 16.708; p = 0.000), with a strong correlation coefficient (Pearson's R = 0.664). Parity was also found to significantly influence preeclampsia incidence (p = 0.011), whereas gestational age showed no significant effect (p = 0.549). Mothers aged >35 years represented the highest-risk group, with all three respondents in that category having a history of preeclampsia. These findings imply that age-based antenatal risk screening should be prioritized to enable early detection and prevention of preeclampsia progression in district-level healthcare facilities.

Abstract

The national Family Planning Program positions implant contraception as a priority method within the Long-Term Contraceptive Method category; however, its utilization at the primary health care level remains substantially below the established national target. This study aimed to identify factors influencing the use of implant contraception among couples of reproductive age in the working area of Tinumbal Community Health Center. A quantitative descriptive-analytic design with a cross-sectional approach was applied to 30 respondents selected through total sampling. The variables examined included education, knowledge, and husband's support as independent variables, and implant contraceptive use as the dependent variable. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) with SPSS version 26. The results revealed that a single principal component was formed with an eigenvalue of 3.549, explaining 88.722% of the total data variance. Knowledge emerged as the most dominant factor with an extraction value of 0.946, followed by husband's support at 0.945, and education at 0.714. It is concluded that these three factors synergistically influence the decision to use implant contraception; Therefore, family planning promotion programs should be designed holistically, targeting both the enhancement of acceptor knowledge and the strengthening of spousal involvement.
