This study aims to determine the effect of the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) learning model on the explanatory text writing ability of eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Bandar Pulau. The background of this research is based on the low ability of students in writing explanatory texts and the need for innovative, student-centered learning models. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a posttest-only control group design. The study population consisted of 118 eleventh-grade students, with a sample of 57 students selected through purposive sampling, comprising 27 students in the control class (IPS 1) and 30 students in the experimental class (IPS 2). Data were collected through an explanatory text writing test assessed using a rubric covering text structure, linguistic conventions, and content appropriateness. Data analysis was performed using the Liliefors normality test, F-test for homogeneity, and an independent sample t-test for hypothesis testing. The results showed tcount = 5.83 > ttable = 1.67 at a 5% significance level with df = 55, indicating that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. The mean score of the experimental class (82.00) was significantly higher than that of the control class (63.04). Therefore, the RADEC learning model has a significant effect on students' explanatory text writing ability.
